Epithelial Fusion at Eruption

The fusion of the oral epithelium (A) with the reduced enamel epithelium (B) is seen at C. The apparent thickness of the enamel (D) is deceiving as the tissue covering the enamel has collapsed toward the dentin following loss of its majority by demineralization.
