Myoepithelial Cells

Look for the triangular-shaped nucleus of a myoepithelial cell (A) in the serous unit in the center of the field. Myoepithelial cells are thought to have contractile properties. They exhibit an octopus-like morphology, Their processes encompassing the acinus. It has been theorized that they gently "squeeze" the cells of the acinus to aid in the secretory process.
