(14 of 20) Capillary in Cementum Dentin (A) lies along the upper margin of this image. Note the capillary (B) embedded in the cementum. This is somewhat unusual. Nearby canaliculi would be directed toward this embedded vessel instead of the periodontal surface (C) of the cementum. Formation of the cementum continues throughout life and the attachment of PDL fibers can be altered to meet the functional needs of the tooth. Newly formed PDL fibers anchor to cementum, replacing aged fibers. |
