Perikymata

Where the margin of each enamel layer reaches the free surface of the enamel, a fine ridge is seen in recently erupted teeth. The ridges are called perikymata (imbrication lines of Peckerill). Perikymata on the lower incisors are indicated by A. Over a period of time, the peri-kymata disappear due to abrasion (chewing and brushing of teeth).
