Dentinal Tubules in Longitudinal Section
This is a demineralized longitudinal section through dentinal tubules. Note the odontoblast processes (A) which appear as dark purple lines. Peritubular dentin (B) has been lost during demineralization and is represented by the clear spaces on either side of the odontoblast process. The true diameter of a dentinal tubule cannot be determined from demineralized sections. Intertubular dentin (C) stains pink and separates the tubules.
