Pharos print stations and printers
Print Stations
Notice: Print jobs stay in the print queue for approximately 2 hours and then they are deleted from the print queue.
The Pharos Print system can be found in most labs and libraries on campus. Nearly all public access computers utilize the system and there are easy to install print drivers that are available for use when printing from your own laptop.
When you print from a lab or library computer, a popup will appear that will ask you to name your print job. Once you've printed from the client machine (lab computer, laptop), locate the Omega Print Station in the lab. Depending upon whether the machine can do both printing and copying, the Omega Terminal may look like either of the pictures below:
If it looks like the first screenshot, you will need to hit the 'Printing' button on the Omega terminal first.
Once you have reached the Printing screen, swipe your CatCash Card (student ID, Dart Card) in the attached card reader. A list of jobs will appear on the screen. This screen also tells you how much money you have on your account. Select your job with the mouse, which will display the cost of the job, and click on "Print". Often it is helpful to sort them by the Time or Owner to help find your particular job. Do so by selecting these words at the top of the screen. The print system will automatically log off the print station, but it's a good habit to get into to log it off yourself by clicking on "Log Off".
Card Swipe Problems: The card swipes on the station can take all four swipe directions, both up and down with the swipe facing left and right. If, after you have swiped all four directions, the card still does not read correctly, please exit out of the function with the Exit button in the lower left corner and re-enter. This should remedy the problem.
Timeout Issues: The touch screens are set to timeout after 60 seconds for both Printing and Copying functions. This is to protect your card against unauthorized access in case you forget to log out or there is a problem with the device that prevents you from logging out. To have more time, you simply need to press a button on the touch screen device and your time will be reset to 60. Copying a page on the Canon device will not reset the time for you, only action on the touch screen device will.
Re-calibrating (ONLY to be done by Library or Lab Personnel)
Symptoms that will indicate that a device needs to be re-calibrated include no touch registration at all by the device, or even the device not registering properly where you touched. In order to remedy this, you will need to unplug the power for the hub of the Omega device (the computer-looking portion that has all of the wire connections) and then plug it immediately back in. The device then will re-boot like a normal computer, eventually displaying a screen with the words 'Starting Up Omega'. At this point, hold your finger on the touch screen of the Omega device until the screen disappears. A calibration prompt will then appear on the screen. Touch the blinking circles in the fours corners in succession, and the will re-set the calibration of the device and allow it to work properly. If this does not remedy the situation, please Contact Us.
