Objectives and Outcomes
Training objectives are to provide:
- Information on the unique challenges a farmer or farm family member face that can lead to stress, depression and suicide.
- Examples of how to implement each QPR component with a farmer or farm family member at risk for suicide.
- Information on what you can do to help a farmer or farm family member at risk of suicide.
Kentucky’s QPR Trainers
SCAHIP has trained a total of 55 Agricultural Community QPR for Farmers and Farm Families trainers, 17 with the support of Agrisafe-USDA funding and 40 thanks to the generosity of the General Fund appropriation. Trainers represent a variety of occupational and service groups (see figure below). Also included but not pictured in the graphic are one K-12 educator and one farm credit lender.
Individuals trained in QPR with Agrisafe-USDA support
The 17 trainers trained with SCAHIP, CARERC and Agrisafe-USDA funding led 27 training sessions, training a total of 415 individuals in QPR between Fall 2020 and Spring 2021. Two hundred and seventy-eight of these trained individuals reside in Kentucky. One hundred and thirty-seven individuals across the nation participated in Agricultural Community QPR for Farmers and Farm Families via eight, online QPR training sessions offered through Agrisafe in December 2020 and January 2021. Trainings were provided free of charge to participants.
