Uncle $crooge, Number 18, June-August, 1957, page 22. "Land of the Pygmy Indians" Uncle $crooge, Donald, and the nephews head to a plot of land north of Lake Superior that $crooge has recently purchased. The land is supposed to be inhabited only by moose and other ordinary wildlife. The ducks are surprised to find a tribe of pygmy Indians called the Peeweegahs. The Peeweegahs require them to prove their worthiness by fishing for the amazing King Sturgeon. During their adventure, Uncle $crooge finds lithium, selenium, thorium, and other "rare earths" including the fictitious oxide of strombolium. Note that $scrooge's qualitative analytical skills are so formidable that he identifies elements just by looking at them. Thanks to Carl Barks fan Owen J. Erasmus at http://members.aol.com/ojerasmus/revv.html for alerting us to and scanning this element-filled Uncle $crooge story. We appreciate pointers from our fans to help fill holes in the Periodic Table of Comics. |
