Overview

In the northwestern third of Russell County, about three-quarters of the drilled wells yield enough water for domestic use. In the southern end of the county most wells are adequate for a domestic supply, especially those that penetrate small solution openings within the limestone bedrock. Throughout the rest of the county, only a few wells yield enough water for a domestic supply, except in areas close to the Cumberland River.
