Lesson Three: How can I say where I am on the Earth?

Instructions

Look around your classroom. Decide a way to communicate to a friend where you are in the classroom. Write a paragraph, draw a map, plot a graph, or represent on a piece of paper some way to communicate your location. When you are finished, give your description to your teacher.

When everyone is finished, your teacher will shuffle the papers and hand one out to each student. When you get one, try to figure out where that person is located in the room. Then answer the following questions in your inquiry notebook.

  1. How easy was it to understand the description of the person's location?

  2. Were you able to identify the person's location in the room?

  3. What was the easiest part of the description to understand?

  4. What was the hardest part of the description to understand?

  5. What suggestions could you make to improve the description?

Obtain the student worksheet and supplies from your teacher. Working with a partner, go through the sheet answering each question.
