Finding Arguments in Lived Experience
(continued)

Explicit argument places a high value on exploring and qualifying assumptions, on providing evidence for claims, on taking fairly into account what others might reasonably think and say about your topic.

For this reason, last semester, you learned to use a portion of the rich resources the library has to offer: consumer publications, government documents, reference works (subject encyclopedias and specialized dictionaries), statistical sources, newspaper archives.

You will need to use all these skills this semester.  Your instructor will review these quickly, but he or she is working under the assumption that you know about them from English 101 and can use them.
