BOILED PEANUTS
Ingredients:
20 - 24oz Raw Peanuts
1/2 cup salt
4 qt Crock Pot
water to cover peanuts
Directions:
Rinse peanuts to remove any surface dust/dirt. Place 1 quart of water in crock pot
and add salt. Stir to dissolve salt completely. Add peanuts to saltwater, and add
more water to just cover the peanuts.
The peanuts will float somewhat in the water until they cook for a while. The crock
pot lid will hold the peanuts down until they become water logged and sink. Leave in
crock pot on high for 24 - 30 hours. You will need to add water periodically
(approximately every 6 - 8 hours)
MAKE EM CAJUN'
Instead of simply boiling with salt, you can add the following ingredients to your
peanuts to make them spicy. Experiment with spices or flavors you like. The sky is the
limit!
1/2 cup Tony Cachere's Cajun Seasoning Salt (instead of regular salt)
1 tsp ground Cayenne Pepper
1/2 tsp ground Red Pepper Flakes
1 tbsp Sweet Chili Powder
1 tsp crushed garlic
