"All these instruments have a mouthpiece at one end of the tubing and a bell at the other end. The player buzzes his lips while blowing air through the mouthpiece to make the sound in these instruments. To produce higher or lower pitches, the player adjusts the opening between his/her lips. Also, to help make the pitches higher or lower the player makes the instrument longer or shorter. You do remember, Little Violin that a longer and bigger instruments plays lower pitches that a shorter and smaller instrument?"
"But, but...," stammered the violin. "The brass instruments don't get any bigger when they play. They all stay the same size."
"Aaaa...," said the piano. "They LOOK like they stay the same size, but the brass instruments have a secret. Do want to learn what it is?"
"Oh, yes!" said the little violin.
