Offices/Positions Held on the Board: 
Vice Chair and member of the Executive Committee, member of the Academic and Student Affairs, Investment and Nominating Committees and Chair of the University of Kentucky Hospital Committee (2001-2007). Upon Young's reappointment to the Board in 2009, she chaired the University Health Care Committee from 2009 – 2015.

Ms. Barbara Young holds a bachelor's degree from Sweet Briar College, in Sweet Briar, Virginia, and served three terms as a UK Board of Trustees member. While on UK’s Board, Barbara served on numerous Committees including Vice Chair and member of the Executive Committee, member of the Academic and Student Affairs, Investment and Nominating Committees, and Chair of the University of Kentucky Hospital Committee (2001-2007). Upon Barbara’s reappointed to the Board in 2009, she chaired the University Health Care Committee from 2009 – 2015. 

Young has been associated with numerous Boards and organizations, including the Lexington Public Library Board of Trustees, The Lexington School Board of Trustees, and the Sweet Briar College Board of Directors. She currently serves on the William T. Young Library Endowment Board, UK's Women and Philanthropy Leadership Council and is a member of Markey Women Strong, which empowers women-led cancer research. 

She currently serves as a Community Advisory Member on the University Health Care Committee.
