This outreach project aims to develop an educational video that addresses communication “barriers” among Spanish-speaking employees and English- speaking employers during occupational trainings and to deliver an outreach program that promotes good occupational safety practices that reduces injuries and fatalities among Spanish-speaking Hispanic employees. For this project, we propose developing a video that will help Hispanic trainees understanding they should not feel humiliated by saying “I did not understand” during a training session, and that they must express themselves when do not understand how to perform a task. We also propose outreaching the farming community of the Commonwealth of Virginia by showing a series of occupational safety videos at different farm-community events. For this, educational videos will roll-over during several agricultural fairs. We anticipate reaching more than 2,000 stakeholders through this outreach program.
