Occupational Safety
The Occupational Safety (OS) training program is designed to equip trainees with the knowledge and skills to engage in the practice of occupational safety and health management. Trainees are equipped to enter public and private organizations with the intent of decreasing the volume and severity of occupational injuries, illnesses, and fatalities in the workplace. Trainees within the OS program benefit from Eastern Kentucky University’s (EKU) geographic position in the foothills of Appalachia and the connections that brings with industries unique to the 5 state region. OS core students’ rigorous graduate education with the Safety, Security and Emergency Management (SSEM) program combined with CARERC training opportunities prepare them for careers in the high demand field of occupational safety management. The SSEM program faculty continue to maintain strong relationships with organizations that provide OS trainees with internship opportunities while navigating the program of study as well as full time employment upon graduation.
