A US Culture and Business Practices degree is an interdisciplinary program of study that combines robust training in the history, politics, arts, and culture of the United States with a more traditional Business and Finance education. The degree requires coursework in the Humanities, Social Sciences, and the Gatton College of Business and Economics, and includes an array of high-impact learning experiences. US Cultures and Business Practices students develop critical thinking, writing, communication, and problem-solving skills. The degree prepares students to work in a variety of business, technological, cultural, community, and human-service fields.

Graduation Requirements

Any student earning a Bachelor of Arts (BA) degree must complete a minimum of 39 hours at the 300+ level. These hours are generally completed by the major requirements. However, keep this hour requirement in mind as you choose your course work for the requirements in the major. guided Electives (18 Hours)                                            

Students are required to complete a minimum of 18 credit hours of electives from the approved list. At least 3 credit hours must be chosen from each of the three areas: National Formations (includes US in the world), American Communities & Identities, and Literary Arts.

Free Electives (6 hours)

To fulfill the total credit hour requirement of 120, students must complete a minimum of 6 hours of free electives. These electives may not be applied toward UK Core or A&S requirements. Additionally, courses offered by the Gatton College of Business cannot be used to satisfy free elective credits.
