With advancing communication, digital, and travel technologies, our world is more interconnected than ever before! Our classrooms are increasingly diverse, with students who come from all over the world and speak many different languages. Educators must be prepared to meet the needs of all students and help them understand how to work with others from different cultural backgrounds. The purpose of this undergraduate certificate in globally competent teaching is to provide a helpful supplement to your education degree to prepare you to be effective in teaching a wide range of learners.

The certificate is 12 credit hours, all of which can cross-count for other requirements you may have (UK Core, electives, etc.). While studying abroad or overseas student teaching are not required for the certificate, if you do participate in one or more of these programs, your course credit may be able to count towards the certificate.
Prospective students: Minors and certificates are declared once you are a current student.
Current students: You can do so online in MyUK GPS. Under "My Program of Study" on the right side of the screen, click the link "Request a major/minor/certificate change". If you need help, contact your academic advisor.
