Enhance your career skills and learn about education connections in your STEM field.
Build expertise in designing and leading STEM activities with an Explorations in STEM Education undergraduate certificate. The certificate is for students from any major who would like to explore STEM Education as a field or area of interest, or simply add these skills to enhance your career readiness.
The program is designed to help build confidence and communication skills for a wide range of audiences and deepen your knowledge of STEM fields. You will design learning activities that engage thinking and problem-solving skills. The certificate includes focused coursework in STEM Education (nine credit hours) and in at least one STEM discipline (three credit hours) of your choice.
While students of any major can benefit from the undergraduate certificate, it may be especially helpful for STEM majors and related majors such as agriculture, public health, nursing, medicine, elementary education, and others.
The Explorations in STEM Education certificate program requires nine guided electives . These include six credit hours in STEM Education and three credit hours in a STEM discipline (i.e., science, technology, engineering, mathematics) discipline or related applied discipline in STEM. Students will work with the certificate program director to select the guided electives.
