Douglass Park, 1950's |
Along with preserving oral histories, this project includes a similar methodology of collecting photographic histories. Because little African-American photographic history of Lexington has been archived, this project hopes to contribute an important and exciting gallery of photographs.
The photographs fall roughly into three categories; pictures of the parks in general, portraits of the persons who worked for and contributed to the park system, and images related to the lives of these personalities. A section of maps is also provided. This project owes a tremendous THANKS! to the families that made these photographs available.
