Inventory of Karst Springs in Fayette County
The purpose of this project is to make data on karst features in Fayette County more readily available. Rapid urban development in the county makes documenting these features important for addressing any future environmental problems. The inventory largely consists of data collected by Ken Pidgeon, of the Kentucky Division of Water, but also includes existing data in the Kentucky Groundwater Data Repository and the results of new field work by KGS scientists. The data have been entered in a geographic information system and used to construct a map of Fayette County showing the location of karst springs. This map will be published soon.
