Magnitude 7.1 earthquake offshore of Honduras on May 28, 2009

A major earthquake occurred at 8:24:45 (UTC) on Thursday, May 28, 2009 offshore of Honduras, 130 km northeast of La Ceiba, Honduras. The magnitude 7.1 earthquake occurred 10 kilometers (6.2 miles) underground.

The earthquake was recorded on instruments in the Kentucky Seismic and Strong Motion Network, operated jointly by the Kentucky Geological Survey and the Department of Earth and Environmental Sciences at the University of Kentucky.
