The Kentucky Geological Survey monitors the state's nonfuel-mineral industries and compiles information on industry activities and mineral-related government actions. This information is used to answer public-service inquiries, and to prepare reviews of state activities and mineral-resource reports.
Summaries of Kentucky activities in 2000 have been prepared for publication in the Annual Review issue of Mining Engineering and in the U.S. Geological Survey's Mineral Industry Surveys and Minerals Yearbook. Active operations in the state are being visited to obtain information for updating a directory of nonfuel-mineral producers in Kentucky.
