  • Construct Patient Care Facility

    Project Description

    This project will construct a new hospital addition to include patient beds, patient diagnostic and treatment areas, support areas, support facilities, medical equipment and infrastructure. This project also includes the replacement of the hospital parking garage and a connecting bridge to clear the site for the new hospital addition as well as land acquisition and utility relocation costs.

     

    Bid Package 3B – Infrastructure Utilities

    Work includes Civil, Mechanical, Electrical and Plumbing Utilities and structural work for the relocation, addition, removal and modification of selected existing underground and overhead utilities outside and inside the footprint of the new Patient Care Facility. This work is intended to be in advance of the new Hospital construction. The Work also includes the extension of electrical services from the campus Substation #2, near the Peterson Services Building to the new Central Utility Plant Expansion and the Patient Care Facility site.

    Central Utility Plant Expansion

    Expand existing Central Utility Plant near Virginia Avenue and Press Avenue by 17,892 total square feet to provide space for installing new boiler and for future boiler and chillers.

    Bid Package 4A – Temporary Emergency Department Access

    Construct temporary (approximately 3 years) access enclosure to facilitate existing hospital Emergency Department operations. New work to be constructed includes; site demolition, building demolition, new surface parking, drilled piers, concrete footings, subgrade preparation and undercutting of existing soils, concrete slab-on-grade, masonry wall construction, metal bar joist roof framing,

    BP 4 – Mass Excavation and Foundation

    This package will contain the demolition of the existing Parking Structure #4 adjacent to the existing Critical Care Tower building. The removal of below grade utilities, except the one utility line below the garage, will have been previously moved or relocated by Bid Package (BP) #3B Infrastructure work. The mass excavation will require site clearing of all site trees, roadways and sidewalks within the limits of the new Patient Care Facility construction. The excavation of the new lower level and any shoring/benching of the excavation, determined by the geo-tech report, will be a part of this new work. The work of this BP will also involve the start of all deep foundations and foundation walls up to the grade surface of the excavation.

     

    This package would contain the drawing and description for new temporary sidewalks and roadways at various points around the construction site.

    BP 5 – Core and Shell

    This package will contain the construction of the new 1,096,000 building gross square feet of building structural frame, fireproofing, exterior wall enclosure (not including the interior drywall surface) for all new building spaces, windows, exterior aluminum doors and roofs. This package will not contain any interior walls or shaft enclosures. This package will contain major mechanical systems and electrical systems, with horizontal paths on occupied floors provided for in BP 6.

     

    Also included with BP 5 will be all exterior site improvements, civil design for roadways, drainage systems, landscaping, hardscape surfaces and walks. This includes the interior courtyards created by the new Core and Shell Building.

     

    This package would contain the construction documents for the Concourse/Bridge from the new Parking Structure across South Limestone Street to the new Patient Care building.

    BP 6 – Interior Fit-out

    This package will contain the remaining interior fit-out partitions, interior finishes, doors and frames, ceilings, mechanical ducting systems, electrical systems at each occupied floor, technology systems, medical equipment and fire protection for approximately 560,000 occupied square feet and 490,000 of shell space. This package would contain drawings and specifications for signage, interior furnishings and lighting.

     

    The current Phase 1A program contains six 20 bed med/surg nursing units and six 12 bed ICU nursing units. The fit-out contains some radiology spaces (two digital rad rooms, two CT Scanner and two MRI units), new Emergency Department, new Kitchen, new small Cafeteria, new Entrance Lobby and connection to existing Hospital buildings, new Café at Lobby, new Admitting, new Chapel, new Auditorium, new Same Day Surgery Intake and Recovery, new Materials Management space and Loading Dock. The building will also contain a new Central Sterile Department. This package would contain new Helipads on the roof of the building.
