Daniel A. Potter is Professor of Entomology at University of Kentucky
Education:
B.S. Cornell Univ. (1974); PhD, Ohio State Univ. (1978).
Mentoring: Major Professor to 36 graduate students; seven former PhD students are in tenured or tenure-track faculty positions; others are employed in federal and state agencies, in the agrichemical industry, or as private consultants. Many former MS students continued for the PhD at other prestigious universities; others work in Extension, as science educators, in the agrichemical industry, or as Pest Management specialists or consultants. Graduate and undergraduate student advisees have received numerous awards.
Teaching: Instructor for ENT 320 (Horticultural Entomology); ENT/BIO 625 (Insect-Plant Relationships)
Publications: >150 refereed papers, 18 book chapters on turf and landscape entomology; two Annual Review articles; one original 344-page textbook, dozens of trade journal articles.

Personal Information and Interests: I am married to Terri Potter, a First Grade teacher, and have two sons in their 20's. I am a Kentucky Master Angler (fishing) and enjoy hiking, cinema, and all types of music. I play several stringed folk instruments, have a Labrador retriever & pickup truck, and collect Native American spear points found in plowed fields near our study sites.
