The 1998-99 academic year for the WKU Block and Bridle Club commenced with the annual Summer Social. The summer fellowship was enjoyed by all that attended. The chapter's annual Recruitment Week held during September was a successful one. Events were held each night of the week, including a scavenger hunt, a barnyard rodeo, workshops concerning various aspects of WKU Block and Bridle, and the annual Initiation Banquet.

In October, the WKU Block and Bridle hosted Baxter Black, a cowboy poet. WKU Block and Bridle won a presentation from Baxter at the 1998 National Convention. Club members, fellow agriculture students, members >from other nearby Block and Bridle Chapters, and the local community attended. The evening with Baxter was quite entertaining.

The WKU Block and Bridle made a presentation again this year during the Bowling Green-Warren County Chamber of Commerce Farm-City Day Breakfast. Several members were involved with this event, which promoted animal science literacy in the urban community.

In January, eighteen members from the WKU Block and Bridle attended the 79th National Convention in Fort Worth, Texas. At the convention, WKU's Charles Farber was named as the 1997-98 National Block and Bridle Outstanding Senior.

The major event for the WKU Bloack and Bridle was the Little North American Showmanship Contest. A series of events were held the week of the show, including fitting demonstrations, a judging contest, a pork chop cook-off, and a silent auction. Those who were successful at the Little North American were honored after the show at the annual Spring Awards Banquet. The WKU Block and Bridle enjoyed many successes this year and is anticipating a progressive 1999-00 academic year.
