2000/2001 Abstract
University of Georgia

We started the summer off by organizing and running the B&B Summer Classic Lamb Show in Perry, GA. We started the school year with the normal business meetings in August and participated in the Academic Quadrathlon in October. The members of the winning team were all Block and Bridle members. In addition, our B&B initiation took place during Homecoming week, and members endured an assortment of "B" signing and mud (among other things). Planning started for the Little International which happens in November, and a total of 120 students showed a mixture of sheep, swine, dairy heifers, beef heifers, and horses. Members also did some serious work on our meeting place, "The Pit" during various Clean-up days throughout Fall Semester. Our service activity for Fall was "Adopt a Family," a program that allowed individual members to donate gifts to a needy family at Christmas time. We also made several donations to the Meats, Livestock, and Horse Judging Teams, along with various other donations.

After Christmas, our club started preparation for the Great Southland Stampede Rodeo during bi-monthly Rodeo Committee meetings. Committee chairmen were chosen and committees formed. During the weekend of January 17, twenty-five members traveled to St. Louis, Missouri for the 2001 National Block and Bridle Convention. On February 7, members joined up with Sigma Alpha and Alpha Gamma Rho for the "Night in the Cold" can drive. February 16 was our Spring Formal, a night dance and enjoy ourselves. On February 21 we invited agri-businesses and students to our annual B&B Career Fair at the Animal and Dairy Science Complex. In March we took part in South Campus Week along with other agricultural student organizations and College of Agriculture and Environmental Science Alumni and proudly ended the week at the South Campus Student Banquet. On April 20 our Awards Banquet was held at Holiday Inn to recognize outstanding Block and Bridle members, and that evening some members participated in the Relay for Life. Finally, the Rodeo was held on April 27 and 28 in coordination with the Special Event, our miniature rodeo for local Kindergartners. This yearly fundraiser includes ticket sales, t-shirt sales, and program sales. Finally, members elected new officers, ending the year on a promising note.
