The MSU Block & Bridle Club includes students from various areas of study who share a common interest in livestock. Members strive to promote fellowship and scholarship while serving as stewards and ambassadors for animal agriculture.

During the first week of class, the Department of Animal Science hosts the ANS Round-up in order to welcome students to campus and provide an opportunity for new students to learn about organizations such as B&B.

Throughout the year, the club sponsors social and leadership activities for its members. Guests are invited to speak on topics such as issues and opportunities in agriculture, as well as resume writing and preparing for job interviews.

In addition to general meetings, special activities and social events are conducted throughout the year. A scavenger hunt, in which new and old members form teams to collect items from an assigned list, is held in the fall. The club sets up a display the annual Autumnfest sponsored by the College of Agriculture and Natural Resources.

Following winter break, students compete in the Little International. This event is open to undergraduate students, and offers both novice and experienced divisions. A livestock fitting and showmanship clinic for youth is held the morning of the show. Another popular feature is the ham sale. Members form teams and process hams which are sold at auction.

The Block and Bridle Club is proud of the accomplishments of our meats and livestock judging teams, and honors current, as well as former teams, at our annual recognition banquet in March. In addition, club members receive awards, and we acknowledge the contributions of an individual to the livestock industry by placing his or her portrait among those of past honorees.

Working with the livestock industry and youth events is a major focus of our organization. We provide help for the Winter Beef Classic, and manage a junior show at the Michigan Beef Expo in the spring. Our annual youth livestock judging contest is held in April. Our commitment to youth activities continues during the summer, as we sponsor a lamb show in July. These activities provide opportunities for us to work with young people who have an interest in livestock, many of whom will be future "Spartans".

At the end of spring semester, we join with other student clubs from the Department of Animal Science to host an annual recognition picnic for faculty, staff, and students.
