2001/2002 Abstract
Colorado State University

The Colorado State University Block and Bridle Club began its busy year with helping coordinate a time honored CSU event, Ag Day, in which local farmers bring meat and crops to cook for the public to promote agriculture before the first CSU home football game.  This year Block and Bridle members were allowed for the first time to partake in one of the oldest events at CSU, the painting of the white “A” on the foothills, representing the Aggies and making the members true agriculturists for honoring those before ourselves.  Members worked extremely hard in promoting agriculture this year by participating in two new events, CSU Ag Adventure for Youth at ARDEC and Ag in the Classroom, which were days of agricultural education for all third grade classes in the Poudre school district.  Many Block and Bridle traditions were continued, such as the 68th Little National Western, allowing CSU students to show the University’s livestock.  The members also invited other fellow Block and Bridle members in Wyoming and Colorado to participate in Spring Fling, hosted at the Terry Bison Ranch in Cheyenne , Wyoming .   Other community service activities included serving lunch at the 25th annual CSU Bull Sale, collecting food for Cans Around the Oval, educating the public about FMD, BSE and CWD and serving a pancake breakfast during Ag Awareness week, and hosting the 3rd annual Buckle and Banner Progress Show.  Members also didn’t forget how to have fun by participating in the College of Ag broomball tournament, the Skyline Rodeo dress-a-calf contest, and traveling to National Convention in Louisville .  This was a very successful year for Block and Bridle, especially with the new affiliation of the Collegiate Colorado Cattlemen’s Association.  We look forward to an exciting and productive year to come.
