2000/2001 Abstract
Colorado State University

The Colorado State University Block and Bridle chapter had another busy year in the 2000-2001 school year. We continue to maintain tradition by hosting the 67th Annual Little National Western and serving lunch at the 25th Annual CSU Production Bull Sale. We started new traditions with sponsoring Halloween Jam and having a Christmas party. We provided services to our community by having a coat and clothing drive, as well as cleaning our stretch of I-25 with the Adopt-a-Highway program. We reached out into the community by participating in a City of Fort Collins activity by volunteering at Treatslyvania. We dressed up in costumes to hand out candy to area children. In support of our department we helped plant hundreds of trees at CSU's Agricultural Research Development Education Center (ARDEC) in order to stabilize the banks of an irrigation canal. We raised money by setting up for the annual Ag Day at Hughes Stadium and having our second annual Buckle and Banner market and breeding cattle show in Kiowa. Further we helped the Department of Animal Sciences host the Western Regional Academic Quadrathalon by providing assistance with the event. We helped promote the values of agriculture by volunteering at the Anderson Farms Corn Maze in Dacono and at the Corn Stalk 2000 concert series in Greeley. We also educated other CSU students during Ag Awareness Week by handing out information about Foot and Mouth Disease and Bovine Spongiform Encephalopathy, while at the same time, challenging the toughness of our student body with free mechanical bull rides. We socialized amongst ourselves by providing food at meetings, having potlucks, end of semester parties, and ski trips. We also hosted a College of Agricultural Sciences and Department of Animal Sciences tailgate party at our last home football game. We learned from others by attending the National Cattlemen's Beef Association National Convention in San Antonio, Texas and having guest speakers at club meetings. We had one busy year, but we hope to become busier in the future.
