The Abilene Christian University Block and Bridle Club began the year by participating in a Back to School Barbeque hosted by the Agricultural and Environmental Sciences Department where we got to meet the new freshman majoring in agriculture. Our ag club had thursday night activities that included attending the West Texas Fair and Rodeo, the Mesquite Rodeo, playing volleyball at Sonic, playing a brutal game of capture the flag at the Smith Ranch and many other fun events. We planned and provided food for anyone who participated our Farm Clean Up Day out at Allen Farm and helped run a Halloween/Harvest Party, a Valentines Day party, and a Christmas party where we all exchanged white elephant gifts. Our club assisted in running a All School Rodeo that had events ranging from steer saddling and goat dressing to barrel racing and chute dogging where all attendees had an enjoyable time.  Rachel Palmer participated in the horseback drill team event that started off the rodeo. Chelsey and Mim attended the Block and Bridle National Convention in Washington D.C. and plan to bring a many more members with them to next years convention in San Antonio. Dr. Brokaw and several Block and Bridle members attended NACTA in Tennessee and participated in the horse judging and  knowledge bowl and learned a lot about Tennessee Walking Horses. Several Block and Bridle members also attended the Delta Tau Alpha national convention in Alpine Texas at Sul Ross State University and observed the Marfa lights in their free time. Numerous Block and Bridle members ran a booth during the Homecoming Carnival to educate and entertain children with agriculture and assisted in building a float for the Homecoming Parade. ACU Block and Bridle members attended and decorated for our Ag Dept Fall and Spring Banquets.  ACU's entire Ag Dept went on several service projects to area churchs and repainted an old church in Truby Texas. They also assisted in running the big ACU AG Field Day where school kids from all around come to judge land and livestock. Block and Bridle members sold hams and picked up mesquite wood at an area ranch as a fundraiser for Ag Club events and trips, and participated in school wide intramurals against the social clubs. All in all we had a very busy year and are hoping for another great year to come where our club will continue to be actively involved in our school, community and the national Block and Bridle organization.
