Welcome to Peter A. Crooks Research Group

Welcome to the Crooks Research Website! Our research group is primarily involved in drug development with an emphasis on discovery. Other important activities are in the areas of drug stability, dosage form development, formulation, and preclinical ADME work. We are currently pursuing major developmental work in the following therapeutic areas: CNS-active drugs with potential as agents for the treatment of nicotine addiction, psychostimulant addiction, alcohol abuse, acute, chronic and neuropathic pain regulation; anticancer agents to treat lung cancer, pancreatic cancer, melanomas and leukemias; radiosensitization molecules as synergistic drugs in tumor radiation treatment; bone targeting agents to promote bone growth for the treatment of osteoporosis; and design and synthesis of novel antibacterial agents. We are also carrying out research on the development of novel drug delivery dosage forms, and we have a special interest in prodrug and codrug design, synthesis and evaluation.
