Liz McKellar

Oakland, California native Liz McKellar didn’t originally plan to attend UK. “UK wasn’t in my top five schools,” she explains. However, after researching possible scholarships in schools across the U.S., Liz applied for and received the William C. Parker scholarship, a full four year scholarship, and she chose to come to Kentucky.

“I love my classes,” states Liz. “I haven’t had a bad class here. The professors are wonderful. I can always go to my professors and talk to them.”

Liz is taking full advantage of the opportunities UK offers. The English major has also had an opportunity to study in India as part of the Education Abroad program. “I did an internship while I was there—working with HIV–AIDS–that showed me that being a doctor wasn’t what I wanted to do. I’m looking at being a nurse practitioner or physician’s assistant now.”
